Silver and white
marry me he said
and she said yes
dressed in silver and white
beautiful, strapless
empire waist, flowing
she looks like a gorgeous bride
and he in black tuxedo
is tall and blond
blue eyes hopping for a glimpse
waiting so impatiently
for her father to relinquish
his daughter to be his wife
and while she steps
forward towards the alter
her mother’s eyes on her back
and the eyes of all the woman
remembering the day
of their own yes
winking away a silver tear…
she seems unaware
of the past she leaves
and the future she steps into…
